Peace activist honored posthumously

AMERICUS -- Rachel Corrie had the courage to do only what many others say
they would do; she gave her life for something in which she believed. On March
16, Corrie was run over and killed by an Israeli bulldozer while trying to
protect a Palestinian family's house from being demolished.
Monday, Corrie's parents were presented with the Clarence Jordan Humanitarian
Award at Koinonia Farms for their daughter's profound and undaunted work. The
award is given to an individual whose life reflects the teachings of Jesus and
the spirit of Koinonia Farms as demonstrated in the life of Clarence Jordan.
"Our society make heroes out of athletes and military leaders, but it nice
to see heroes like Rachel Corrie honored," said David Castle of the
Koinonia board of directors. "These type of people teach people by a life
of example."
